Leading link fork size to go into WP 4054 triples on EML kit

Post by enduro250z »

Back in the 80's there were kits to build sidecar using donor bikes main parts. Some of these bikes used White Power 4054 triple clamps. The triple clamps are 54mm inner diameter. This is quite large. From what i can gather the fork legs that went in them were not 54mm in size but smaller and they used reducing sleeves. Could someone tell me what size the triple clamps are reduced to. Would it be 50mm and a 2mm thick sleeve or even smaller than 50mm? I have attached a photo where you can see sleeves in the triples to reduce them down smaller. Anyone got one of these old kits that use the WP triples? Also i see the Maico kits used the Maico clamps. They were 42mm. Were sleeves used in those to reduce to 38mm or 40mm too or did 42mm legs get used with no reducing sleeves? I do know sleeves make it a lot easier to install the forks and not scratch up the paint trying to slide them in. Cheers
